    S BRICKThe summer festival begins!

The masking tape brand "mt" is based in Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.Kamoi Paper Processing Co., Ltd.This is the world's first masking tape brand, created by [company name]. More than just a stationery item, it's a tool that embraces the simple desire to "create" in art and fashion, allowing you to express yourself freely. With its colorful designs and freedom, it's a stationery item loved by people of all ages, from children to grandmothers.

This is the third year of our project with S BRICK. The temporary mt shop that served as our base was the largest it's ever been.

One of the highlights of the limited-time mt shop is the limited-edition tapes, which change every year. The SBRICK features an original design by the familiar "Maruichikyu" every year.

The theme of the softly colored tapes, adorned with eraser stamps, was a summer festival. Lanterns, watermelons, fireworks, and ramune soda were featured, and the main eye-catching design was a wind chime pattern, creating a cool and refreshing atmosphere throughout the building.

Looking up at the ceiling, you see swirling patterns. This panel is made from masking tape from a series called "Ganshin." The tape has excellent color development on both sides and is suitable for glass, but as you can see, there is no difference between the front and back. Every year, there are new discoveries in the product planning. You can feel the depth of the "desire to create" that resides in masking tape.

The newly introduced Choice Tapioca also attracted attention. It's packed into an original mt cup and then covered like a tapioca juice bottle! This ingenious touch is typical of mt, and it's easy to see why mt enthusiasts travel around the country attending mt exhibitions!

This year's SBRICK original workshops featured six different items! The craft base was bustling with people enjoying creating their own unique items, such as fans, sacoches, pinwheels, and coin purses.

This year, our partner shops throughout the city have also been upgraded! Not only in Sumoto, but also shops in Awaji City have cooperated, with more than 10 shops helping with tape sales and in-store decorations.

Flags are displayed at partner shops. Use these as landmarks to enjoy exploring the town.

They also entered as a partner shop last year.Nordic goods and cafe terälehtiiThis year's original tape features a design inspired by Scandinavian tableware, which the shop owner, Ms. Yokoyama, is delighted to hear, say, "It's so much fun, I wish they'd hold it all summer long."

A now indispensable presence in the Sumoto mt projectTOMMY COFFEE STANDHey everyone! This year's impressive mt installation is here again! It's so well-matched you might not even notice, but the blue stripes in the store are decorations made from wide masking tape.

The shop is filled with masking tape! What's even more exciting every year is their original design drip bags. Apparently, they create new designs specifically for them each year. TOMMY COFFEE STAND's love for mt masking tape was unstoppable again this year!

Furthermore, this year, original masking tape from the Komodo 56 shopping street has also been released. The masking tape features motifs of the colorful signs and billboards of the shopping street. The cute onion character has been a huge hit!

The fact that even long-established shops in the shopping district are now carrying our products makes me feel that this project has become familiar and spread throughout the town. Above all, I'm happy to see that everyone is enjoying mt tape.

Vibrantly illuminated every corner of the city.

The vibrancy of the town wasn't limited to the partner shops. This year, artists once again came to Teramachi Henjoin Temple to paint their artwork on the walls for this project.

Bringing art to a temple is a truly pop-culture initiative. This year, sculptor Shota Kimura created a mural. Paintable masking tape was applied to the wall, and the painting was then created on top of it.

In the first year, we featured line art by Koji Iyama, which also served as the main visual, and paintings by public bathhouse muralist Mizuki Tanaka. In the second year, we had Ichiro Yamaguchi's work, and this year, we have continued to create wall art that resembles a picture scroll. We would like to thank Henjo-in Temple for their cooperation in the exhibition over these three long years.

And mt art was also created by high school students in Sumoto City! They were very active everywhere, from the beach to the shopping streets.

At Ohama Beach, the magnificent masking tape art created by the art club of Sumoto High School has once again appeared, just like last year. The pictures, which were drawn with meticulous planning and calculation, are truly breathtaking!

The whale with its big, sparkling eyes made the summer beach of Ohama, which had just opened for the season, shine even brighter.

Students from Sumoto Industrial High School and Sokai High School were in the city center. We went through a process of trial and error, rethinking and redesigning the layout while talking with the shop owners who cooperated with us.

From exterior walls and windows to the ground, high school students' masking tape art adorned the entire town.

The summer festival is reaching its climax.fart!

To truly liven up this year's exhibition theme, "Summer Festival," all the staff went to the Awa Odori dance at the "Island Festival"! The "Island Festival" is a summer event that the people of Sumoto absolutely love.

Because it was once part of the Tokushima Domain, Sumoto still retains the culture of Awa Odori dance. At the island festival, several teams called "ren" are formed, and they parade through the streets dancing to live music of drums and shamisen. This time, we will be participating in the ren from the Komodo 56 shopping street and a surprise ren organized by the Chamber of Commerce Women's Division.

mt is an indispensable item here as well. We prepared mt fans for everyone in the group. Everyone helped prepare and decorated the fans in the group's waiting area.

With the shouts of "Yattosa, Yattosa!" it's finally their turn! After seeing off the group before them, they set the rhythm with lively percussion instruments and head into the shopping street adorned with mt tape. This marks the return of the group to the Komodo 56 shopping street after a 7-year hiatus, and an incredible 100+ participants have gathered.

The shop owners, who usually close at night, have turned on their lights, turned on the air conditioning, and set up chairs to enjoy the scene. It's been years since we've seen a sight like this.

Leading the procession were the shopkeepers, dressed in original yukata and performing a men's dance. The calls and chants were provided by the local "Tsubasa Ren" group, who had supported the event and held numerous practice sessions beforehand. With the shopkeepers smiling beside them, the dancers, sweating profusely, made their way through the shopping street before continuing on to the main performance area, Horibata-suji.

The Horibata-suji street is usually quiet, but on this day it is brightly lit, and as people throughout the town watch, the pleasant sounds of clanging and banging permeate your body.

It was unbearably hot, and my arms and waist were aching, but as the tempo of the music reached its peak, we headed to the final stop. By the time we finished dancing, even my homemade fan was completely soaked.

For the final round, there was an impromptu dance group. "Those who dance are fools, and those who watch are fools, but if we're all fools anyway, we might as well dance!" So, anyone could join the impromptu dance group, even if they weren't part of a regular group. Under the guidance of the Chamber of Commerce Women's Division, islanders and visitors from outside the island danced together, working up a sweat.

The project began with the idea of encouraging people to explore the city from S BRICK! Over the course of three years, the project has grown into a substantial collection of content, including individual artworks, installations, and partner shops, and has become a project that many people have been involved in and enjoyed.

To Kamoi Kakoshi Co., Ltd., all the artists, our partner shops, the staff who helped out at mt shop, the students who decorated the streets, and everyone who walked around the city and rediscovered the joy of it all, thank you for sharing this hot summer with us.

We hope that mt's memories of being enveloped in the vibrant energy of a colorful summer festival will become a cherished summer memory for everyone.
